Google Pixel x WNBA All-Star Weekend 2024

Google’s “Wonders of the W” activation at All-Star Weekend 2024 brought to life Google Pixel’s partnership with the WNBA. The activation in Phoenix, Arizona gave fans the opportunity to touch, feel, and see the magic of Google features through content capture, artist collaborations, custom merch, and photo opportunities.

JOCELYN HU partnered with Google Pixel to create four custom looks inspired by WNBA athletes Kelsey Plum, Arike Ogunbowale, Shakira Austin, and Aliyah Boston. The storytelling was brought to life through custom content production and athlete showcases on-site throughout the two-day event.

Collection launch: July 2024

KELSEY PLUM / LAS VEGAS ACES

THE TRAILBLAZER. Often seen in a suit blazer or an edgy cropped set, Kelsey Plum has paved the way for young girls and women to stand in confidence and live fearlessly. Leaning into her style, KP’s custom piece is a cropped, embellished suit with a reworked belt displaying her highlights.

The top layer of the belt is sewn from KP’s Under Armour Breakthru 4 sneakers, deconstructed to put a shine on her signature shoe. The second layer is cut from white tees, a nod to her viral t-shirt toss. And the bottom tier is made from cigar wraps, patchworked together to celebrate an iconic Championship moment.

ARIKE OGUNBOWALE / DALLAS WINGS

THE WAVE. One thing to know about Arike - she doesn’t play when it comes to her pants. Often bringing the heat to the tunnel in one-of-a-kind cargos, Arike’s style is bold, wavy, and effortless.

To capture this, Arike’s custom piece is a pair of denim, wavy pants with exaggerated side pleats. Each pleat embodies a part of her journey - her college championship game winner and Nigerian roots, her love for soccer, and her signature color.

ALIYAH BOSTON / INDIANA FEVER

THE ANCHOR. With Aliyah’s budding, offseason career as a sports analyst and anchor, she proves that athletes don’t need to be put into a box - they can do it all and balance both an on-court presence with an on-camera talent.

Aliyah’s custom piece honors this idea of duality by juxtaposing tough leather with soft, velvet fabrics. the bright colors emphasize her boldness, and the exaggerated sleeves and zipper illustrate she’s bigger than basketball.

SHAKIRA AUSTIN / WASHINGTON MYSTICS

THE THREAD. Shakira taught herself how to sew so she could tailor her own clothes - and in doing so, fell in love with fashion and design. Her custom piece is a campy take on a tunnel staple, the corset, elevated to showcase her ability to thread on and off court passions.

The piece has a structured bodice layered with upcycled thread, and an exaggerated ruffle covered with buttons. The ruffle flows into a floor-length ribbon representative of a seamstress measuring tape.
