THE R\\\UNION

Candace Parker and Chelsea Gray were teammates on the Los Angeles Sparks from 2016-2020, where they both won their first WNBA title together (2016). In 2021, both players departed for free agency, with Parker going to the Chicago Sky and Gray going to the Las Vegas Aces.

Magnetic closure: A magnetic closure is used in place of a front zipper to portray the push and pull of Parker’s and Gray’s friendship. The two sides of the jacket meet in the middle with patchwork that highlights the Aces, where the two are currently reunited.

Candace Parker: Candace Parker was selected as the first overall pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. In her rookie year, Parker became the second player to ever dunk in the WNBA. After the Sparks, she spent two years in Chicago with the Sky. The left side of the jacket honors Parker’s time on the Sparks and Sky.

Chelsea Gray: The Connecticut Sun took a leap of faith on Chelsea Gray when they drafted her in 2014, as she was still injured and unable to play. In 2016, she was traded to the Sparks, forming the beginning of Parker’s and Gray’s bond. The right side honors Gray’s time on the Sun and Sparks.

Not your average: During their time apart, Parker helped lead the Sky to their first championship in 2021. Gray responded by leading the Aces to their first championship the subsequent year. She was honored Finals MVP. The years on the cuffs mark their respective championships.

Three stripes: With Parker joining the Aces for the 2023 season, Parker and Gray rejoin forces as friends and teammates, going for their third stripe together. The V pattern on the bottom of the back is inspired by vintage adidas W jersey designs.
